PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar Fasciitis is inflammation of the tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes.

Plantar Fasciitis Treatment

CAUSES

Weight gain
Repetitive overuse
Ill-fitting shoes
Flat fee or fallen arches

SYMPTOMS

Pain when getting out of bed in the morning or after long periods of sitting or rest
Stabbing pain the bottom of the foot near the heel

TREATMENT

Plantar Fasciitis may be treated conservatively with shoe gear modifications, custom orthotics, ultrasound guided cortisone injections, Botox InjectionsShockwave Therapy, and Platelet Rich Plasma Injections. In severe cases, surgical intervention is required. In such cases, the surgeon will cut a small piece of the fascia that connects to the heel bone to alleviate tension and pain.

Custom orthotics are biomechanical medical devices that are custom made and designed to stabilize the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position to correct foot imbalances.

Botox injections are utilized to treat a variety of conditions for the foot and ankle, including hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and plantar fasciitis.

Shockwave therapy is a device that utilizes low pulse activation waves to injured tissue to promote a fast and effective healing response.

Platelet Rich Plasma Injections are a procedure where blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a centrifuge to yield a high concentration of the body’s platelets. Platelets contain many growth factors that are responsible for helping heal complex injuries. The platelets are then injected under ultrasound guidance into the area of injured tissue. Patients are then placed in a CAM walker for approximately two weeks to promote stability in the ankle and foot and to restrict motion and weight bearing activity.
